On the back of my 87 f 150 long bed I want to add oval led trailer style back up lights. Where has anyone mounted this type do f back up lights. Thanks
Earl was in the hospital from Aug 2021 - March 2022 Prior to that he was our unmaintained farm plow/gravel/firewood truck 2003-2020. He was up for replacement when it was realized he has 74,000 original miles with an as new motor trans transfer and 3.54 diffs he was worth doing a bumper to bumper mechanical make over. So he got new all new front end parts including Rough County Rancho 5000 2” lift suspension. new brakes, electrical devices and switches, tires and more. The tail gate earned it hyperbolic shape from numerous trees coming down on the tail gate Rather than replacing the beat to death bed Earl will keep his battle torn body with a new truck under. The original paint was burned of by years of sun and snow. The current paint is left-over Chrysler Silver rattle can from a garage sale. In his early life Earl was a construction site work beater . On Fridays the crew took turns jumping Earl over a ramp until they final cracked his frame and bent the right TTS arm. When they broke him he was sold as a parts truck to a guy restoring a 88 Lariat. I bought him one day a plow the next and have had them both in constant service since the day he was purchased. Now all has been made right and Earl lives with his Mandalorian battle scars
Here are The new LED backup lights. Thanks for the tips and picture.
I was able to find the black wire with the pink stripe and catch positive feed to back up lights
I sanded/cleaned the area for grounding the lights on the bumper under the light as it was bolted to the bumper. Also did some rough straightening of Earl rear bumper..
I upgraded bulbs in all my vehicles to LED. On EARL I used cool white 5000K LED bulbs in the stock backup lights on the body and the bottom truck bumper lights are a 10 led warm 3500K These 4 lights make a no moon night in the mirrors look like noon on the 4th of July.

I bought my no frills 301A 2019 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 donor to build my own version Roush Ranger I started with Ford approved Lasfit LED complete vehicle upgrade kit from Ken Grody Ford (the official western US Roush/Shelby Ford Service Center. Liked it so much did the same for the rest of my vehicles For the trailer style lights, license light and 94 wedge bulbs I have great luck with Nilight bulbs. Now often for the smaller bulbs you can get a bulb without polarity. Although the rear strobe LED turn/brake lamps work great. I could never get LEDs to flash properly up front. So I went with 1157 Sylvania Silver Star amber halogen bulbs. I use the Nilight LED back up lights on everything self propelled. I have saved tons of money buying returned LED back up units with torn packages. I have never gotten a light that was installed only discovered it did not fit and returned the light. Hope this helps/
