Frame dillema
Apologies for jumping the gun and not verifying first...
Mornin' all!
In the middle of a frame off restore of an '88 F-350 4x4 std cab. I knew that there was a spot on the frame that I'd need to have repaired, and I got a certified welder to shoot me a quote for a "solid" repair of between $500 and $1,000 depending on what he "found". Here in Iowa, it is difficult to find a low rust donor frame, and I'm not willing to drive to Texas or other Southern states for a low rust donor.
I just went online and found that I can buy a brand new frame for a '92 F-350 for $1,600 from a ford dealer in Illinois (within driving distance for me.) I'm tempted to pull the trigger on that, but I'm not 100% sure if the '88 and '92 frames are largely/completely interchangeable. The illustrations certainly appear that they are, and I know that the cabs and beds are (more or less) interchangeable. I've also seen folks swap front clips out without much trouble. I'm just looking for verification or "yes, but...." advice.
Thanks in advance!
