I will be getting my new truck next month. F350 CCSB 6.7, coming from a Nissan Titan.
I currently use the Andersen WD hitch for my travel trailer with a 4” drop. Anyone else use this set up with your super duty? If so, I was wondering if you use the 4” or 8” drop. I just ordered the 8” drop with the 3” shank and was wondering if that was necessary or not. Just trying to get the things I need ahead of time since we have a few trips planned right around the time I’m taking delivery of the new truck.
I currently use the Andersen with the 4” drop on my 2016 F-150. I will be getting the 3” shank also and will be measuring to see if I need the 4” or 8” too. Please let me know if the 8” works for you.
I have a 22 XLT with the upgraded 350 suspension and axle and pull a camper with 14" tires and underslung axles... so a relatively short camper... I upgraded to the Anderson when I got my truck, however, as much as it killed me, it was one thing I waited to order until after I got the truck. I would suggest doing the same and then taking measurements to figure out which one you need rather than having to swap some of (or all of) it out. Turns out, I am using the 4" drop and still have room to drop my hitch another inch, which I wouldn't have guessed before I took the measurements... Unfortunately, there are so many different configurations, simply figuring out what someone else uses won't help you here...

That does help. Thank you. I also currently have a 2” shank so I think I would of had to replace mine anyway. Either 3” or the 2.5” sleeve. I dont want slop in the receiver. If the 8” is too much, I’ll probably return it for the 4” drop with 3” shank. That’s for the reply, I appreciate it man!

Good call on moving up to the 3" shank if that's what will be on your truck. I had an EAZ-Lift WDH I was using before I got my truck, which also had a 2" shank, but I knew that once I got my truck I would go to a 3" shank rather than using reducer sleeves. I was looking forward to trying the Anderson set up too. So far I like it.
I moved up from a Titan to an F-350. I have the Andersen with a 4" drop. Every trailer is different and what works on my truck/trailer may not apply to yours. The 2017 is a little taller than the 2020+ trucks.
The 3" shank is what I went with. I tried using a 2" shank Blue Ox with the reducers and it wallowed out the pin hole.
Make absolutely sure you're getting a 3" receiver. I don't know all the rules about which configurations get the 3". Not all trucks get a 3" receiver.

I used to tow with and anderson hitch on our F150.
We have a 24' Oliver TT which weighs in at about 6300 # Fully Loaded and has a tongue weight of 650-700#.
When we bought an F350 (which has the 3" receiver) we learned we no longer needed the Anderson because our Tongue Weight was only 700# and the F350 Hitch could easily handle the dead weight....
So we bought a B&W Tow N Stow with both a 2 5/16" and 2" ball. We love that hitch....and the F350 sway control handles our trailer well.
As to measuring rise/drop for the hitch you buy here's a worked out example:With truck and trailer both setting on level Ground and for the truck with the normal towing gear in the back...so it's partially squatting.
From E-Trailer
1) Measure A - the Bottom of you Trailer Coupler to Ground (that's the bottom not the top)
2) Measure B - the Top of Receiver Tube on Truck to Ground
A-B = Rise or drop
Example:
Oliver TT Coupler 21.75” - F350 top of rcvr box 22”= -0.25 drop or a straight coupler.
Hope that helps.
