Engine swap

I’ve got a 2005 F250, good drive train, horribly rusted body. I’ve found a really clean 2006 F250 with a locked up engine at a good price. I plan on dropping my 05 motor in the 06. What else do I need to swap other than the motor? PCM, FICM?

Awesome, thanks! I’ve done a lot of work on my 6 oh but not to the extent of swapping an engine. Looking at options as far as lifting cab or not. I’ve got access to a lift if I decide to lift the cab. I know it can be done without lifting the cab but it seems like it would be a much easier job with the cab off.

All you have to do is pull the header and the top bar and you have a very large opening.

As long as you remove the up-pipes and manage the downpipes location, I didn't find it bad at all. My biggest issue is when I lay under a vehicle, I get vertigo. So every head move needs time to stop the merry-go-round. I put it back in almost fully dressed as much as I could, but I would not do it that way again. You spend too much time worring about the FICM - but I was trying to see the full usefullness of a lift bracket.

Thanks, it's been there for a while. Me and my 1st Mac ain't getting along. I've got over 1TB of videos and images being held hostage.

She went back in at the end of November, but I still don't have all the front end back together.

I never posted anything about it. I now put most of my work on YT, but the computer mess has hobbled, too.

I got mine back together last August. I had plenty of room with the cab on but I know for sure you'll spend a lot less time on your back if you take the cab off. And you won't have to touch the trans.

Kind of hard to swap the engine and not touch the trans.

I was thinking about putting mine in with the top half not on other than the intake
and exhaust manifolds. That way no FICM to worry about whacking.

I was trying to do it worse case for the adjustable lift bracket. I made them, I sold them, but I hadn't used it with the motor going in the truck. I had the intake on, but not the filter assemblies. As I said, I wanted to see what it was like with the FICM taking up the top room. I would not do that again, I kept worring about it. I had the starter on, you don't have to. I had the exhaust manifolds on, you don't have to.
