1992 f250 7.3 idi ats turbo. im leaking fuel on the back passenger injector. what should i try first. and what type of injector codes are for my truck , what do they mean?
if the injector is leaking from the top you only need a return line kit or you can possibly get away with getting 2 new viton o-rings i think they are #11 but not sure.if it is leaking from the bottom you need an injector and maybe a return line kit
im pretty sure that it is leaking on the top of the inject. so i will be looking into those return lines.
ive heard that even one bad glow plug could impead the starting process. its been cold here in the hills 30 - 35 f and no block heater..
so 2 questions.
one how difficult are the glow plugs for my 7.3 idi to replace
two what am i looking at for a decent block heater
i apprieciate all the info thanks
Tweldon,
Just replaced the block heater on mine, I think it was $36. Mine was replacement although the instructions were for new install in case you don't have one. Disconnect battery, drain radiator, pull starter, pull old heater, or freeze plug [coolant will come out]. If your 92 truck is like mine [I only know mine] then the GP's aren't bad except for that dang one under the turbo. A 1/4" drive, long socket, one of those hinging attachments, and [ If I recall correctly] a short extension, along with some patience. Good luck
Are you sure you have no block heater check the freeze plug hole right above the starter it could be that either the cord is gone or the cord is coiled up and tied off somewhere. At those temps you shouldn't need the block heater.
right if all is in order with the engine and the gp system you shouldnt have any issues with starting. And with position of the bad gp it is always in the worst place. Mine is either #7 or #8 never an easy one. haha.

If everything is in good working running order unless you are in the panhandle or west texas it never gets cold enough to reqire it.
I generally don't worry about it unless it is single digits and have started as low as 9 below without it.
