SEEM to be lower? What does your gauge tell you? It shouldn't be a guess. Yes, aluminum melts at 1250*, but remember the AIR is what is being measured, not the temp of the piston itself. A good IC should keep your temps under control with the right setup in other areas. The BIGGEST reason for high EGTs is overfueling. Avoid the temptation to have the biggest injector. Bigger turbo (more air), good IC that moves that air, and an injector that is no more than Stage 1.
Driving around town unloaded I typically see 500-600. Unplugging the MAP sensor dropped it to around 400. When I hooked the rig up to bring it across town the EGTs were around the same as before but the check engine light made me uncomfortable so I plugged it back in. EGTs shot back up and it was hot just on flat ground. I am guessing that the computer was just readjusting because after a while of driving they evened out. My injectors are 200/30 hybrids so not ridiculous but definitely bigger than stock. I am still getting used to the power band on the truck so I notice that right before a grade, if I shift out of OD and kick up the RPMs, it does way better on the hill. We eventually would like to buy a bigger trailer so I want to make sure I have the power to get it over the big hills.

So as mentioned I’d recommend a kc turbo I had one and loved it. 1200 bucks is a lot better in my mind that 3k for a T4 but depends on your preference. I do love the flexibility they provide. Also, who tuned your hydra for your injectors?
Stock up-pipes but the KC turbo kit comes with the bellowed pipes. If there are any leaks my diesel guy couldn't find them. I have replaced both exhaust manifolds when I first bought the truck. There was a broken bolt on one so I just swapped them both out. My boost tops out around 15psi but I am sure I can get more with a better setup. I have heard mixed reviews on intercoolers. Some who say it makes a huge difference and others who say no difference at all. At a cost of $2600 I want to make sure I am getting my moneys worth.
Hmmmmm, I am pretty sure the MAP relays to the PCM incoming boost to increase fueling...so makes sense lower EGT as no additional fuel going in the holes. I had that boost line pop off before and the truck was a slug.
