If you have a 351M or a 400, the 460 will bolt up to the transmission. If you go that route, it means new mounts, all accessory brackets, exhaust, it is not a simple swap.
I personally like the idea of a simple rebuild using a 400 crank(assuming its a 351m), Tmeyer pistons(compression bump), straight up timing set, matched cam and valve springs/rockers, open plenum intake and a holley fuel injection system. Use the same C6 transmission for now, down the line you can add an automatic w/overdrive if your habits necessitate it. My Bronco running 33x10.50 all terrains with a 3.50 rear gear is at 2200rpm at 60mph. Perfect for the Texas Hill Country and running around town. For highway running I plan to add an O.D. trans.
You can get as wild or mild with this setup as you want. If you want a bigger cam, gonna cost more to put better rockers in, etc.. If you want a nice driver that starts and runs great with double the horsepower of stock, its still very close in price as a stock rebuild. Research everything you can about the 335 series engines, and select the right parts. There are a ton of guys in here and the 335 engine forum with a ton of experience building these "boat anchors" into 300hp plus drivers that tow.
Look at @77 HOS truck build. Lots of good information in that thread.
