Lance Camper
Also the pigtail from the Lance is a 7pin round and approx 24inches.
Should I extend the pigtail and buy a adapter from 7pin round to 7pin flat?
or
Extend the pigtail and remove the 7pin round and convert it to 7pin flat?
Then have everything 7pin flat on the truck?
I attached pics of the lance connection my stock 7pin and what I want to add to the sidewall of the bed.
TIA
Just add a hook for it to hang on so it doesn't get accidentally crushed under the camper while loading.
Some folks convert the camper to the Pollak style 7-pin connector. I would recommend it as it always feels more sturdy plugging in and staying in the socket (compared to the style that you currently have), and the socket feels more sturdy after a few years of cooking out in the elements..
Lance 6-wire Plug Truck Side - $109.00 (adventurerv.net)
Your camper has the Lance OE plug. If you want to wire another female plug to match in the side of the bed with the included longer harness try this Lance female and wire harness. If you look at the camper standoff bumper thread we had some discussion about this.
You will see how I ran my wires to the bumper with the Lance female and cord and a 7 pin I wired to the end of the harness plugged into the bumper and I am still not sure about this. It has come unplugged at the Lance connectors once.
Lance wants a heavy 12V feed wire to the camper for 12v operation of the fridge is why they did their plug and long harness.
Some trucks had a connector in the OE harness along the left frame rail at the rear of the cab for a trailer hookup. I don't think they do this anymore but you might take a look under your truck, then it will be easy other than to run the 12 V to to a 12v source up under the hood.
Or switch the camper plug over to a standard trailer 7pin male. Then get a cord with a female and a male to run the the rear bumper.
Or put a 7 pin female in the front left corner of the bed as your thinking then if you ever get a 5th wheel your good to go.
"I have a Lance 961 w/slide 2001. truck/camper 11,300 pretty well loaded but I know I've been more.
Wet weight says 3320 on the back my bet is that I'm around 3800 - 4000 lbs.
I only have a small dinette slide."
"Truck = 6670 lb. w/1 tank full, 1 tank empty
Camper = 3400 lb. dry
add another 260 lb. for water and 500 lb. of "necessities"
ready to roll weight is around 11000 lb."
