2011 Raptor transfer case issue(s)?
different, but not 100% fixed
It now goes from 2WD to 4HI without issue, no warning alert, no check 4x4, now lil' orange wrench
But
now
Going from 4HI to 4L it does show warning and lil' orange light.
Also it used to actually make it into 4L , now does not.
Saw backside of the round end of the shift motor had three slotted screws holding it on.
It was "clocked" all the way one direction, thought it may not be traveling as far as needed and adjusted as far as possible to other end of slots.
Just about the same now.
????
At least replacement was not too difficult outside of what I am assuming is a prox switch or sending unit of sort that had to have it's lead swapped from old electrical connector to new.
Not hard either, just a little time to figure out since had not had to do it before.
Trying to decide where to go from here now
???
Wish I knew more about what goes on when shifting these things.
4HI still seems to work fine.
Get warning, orange wrench, then shows 4x2 when trying 4LO now.
It used to clunk, jolt the truck a little bit and make 4LO then had to return to get 4HI.
I keep trying and hoping that a little more use will free things up, but doesn't seem like the fix yet.
Did tow my van on trailer last weekend through gravel drive that I was thinking might have been an easy place to get stuck.
Got it into 4LO with rear diff locked.
Everything did engage like I wanted.
So it is able to do what needs to be done, just no 4LO now with the new shift motor.
See wire entering case above the shift motor, guessing that must be a sensor detecting shift lever position inside or something similar...?
Anyone ever had to repair that at all?
Or are the proximity switches all in the backside or the motor?
Guessing that must be what a few of the wires there are for?
Appreciate any help once more !!!
Got a second "new" shift motor, a Dorman unit.
Works like a charm now

The first one must not have been doing the job.
No more orange warnings or wrenches.
Quick shifting and even dared to "shift on the fly", well slow roll-about 10-15 miles an hour.
In and out of low works good too.
Glad it was the actuator and not something more serious

Regardless, glad you got it fixed! (for now)
The first one was even cheaper and did not work at all.
I know everything else works and the issue wasn't something else major.
I won't have any trouble buying a better one if the Dorman fails now.
I just hated thinking I was going to buy a more expensive part, install, have the same trouble, and then have to move on to whatever the real problem was.
Been through that too many times previously.
Now that I have done this a couple times, only takes me a few minutes to change out.
If it was a harder, longer job, I sure wouldn't think same way and waste so much time and energy.
But it is pretty quick and easy.
AND I am admittedly cheap.
Appreciate the advice and won't hesitate to get a better part if/when the time comes.
