Greetings all!!!! I would like to say hello the the masses. I just bought my first Ford. 2013 Ford F150 XLT 5.0L. I've always only owned Jeeps or Chevy's. I will be going though the forums for everything I need before asking stupid questions. So please be kind and bear with me. So far, I noticed it has a JVC touchscreen deck, aftermarket camera, and a module under the dash that only says PURSUIT (it has an antenna so I assume aftermarket security.
So I will be asking on this thread. Having never owned a Ford. Do I need to be on the lookout for anything in particular? It only has 103,000 miles. And although it has new breaks (haven't verified this yet. dealership only said so) the breaks squeak.
Biggest item of interest for you will be the fuel pump fuse 27 relocation. Its a simple/cheap fix that if not done, can leave you stranded. Google it and a bunch of threads will pop up about it.
Secondly, reseal the third brake light and GPS antenna, if it has one. You want to minimize the water intrusion as rockers and cab corners are semi-common failure points. If you have a sunroof, Find the taped over holes in the rocker and try to fish the drain tubes out. Point them out of the hole so it no longer drains into the rocker.
IWE's will be of concern at some point if its 4WD.
Otherwise, they're good trucks if you take care of them. This forum is a great resource so you came to the right place.
And change the oil frequently. I tend to change very often.
and I recommend that you change the filter and fluid in the transmission. Not a flush. Drop the pan and change the filter and refill
I also have a 2013 5.0 xlt. Other than normal maintenance (oil, brakes, etc) I’ve replaced the water pump (pretty simple repair),front brake hoses and the wiper multifunction switch. That’s about it. All repairs were fairly easy and not very expensive. Our truck currently has 110,000 miles.
