2013 F150 Connect/Disconnect

The information screen on my 2013 F150 continually changes from "Connected" to "Disconnected" when the trailer is actually connected to the truck. My dealer has checked the system and advised that the "computer" was working normally.

When it shows disconnected the trailer lights and brakes continue to work. To me that indicates that the trailer is indeed connected.

I am new to this forum and hoping that another user may have some ideas on how I can proceed to identify and correct the problem.

That topic has been addressed here previously, the permanent solution is replacement of the trailer socket assy. A temporary solution is to clean the terminals.

Thanks very much for the reply.

The link you provided gets me to a Honda thing and I am wondering if that's the right page?

I figure that the truck, when it says "Disconnected" it really means partially disconnected and maybe only one of the 7 circuits is open.

I tried cleaning the trailer's connector, but I will do it again

Hey, I know this is an 8-year-old thread, but I thought it would be better to post a comment than a new thread. When y'all say "clean the terminals," what do you mean exactly? I tried spraying some contact cleaner on my contacts (both sides), but that did not fix the issue for me.

My truck is a new-to-me 2013 F150 XLT SuperCrew that is constantly indicating that the trailer is "connected" then "disconnected" the entire time I'm pulling the trailer.

The "trailer" side of mine is actually a Hayes Sway-Master device, so maybe I need a new 7-pin cable cable from the Sway-Master to the truck.
