hi, new here got a fairly nice xlt 2.9 5 speed the truck sat in the barn for a year and cranked every week or so fine tried to crank it again last week and it won't start fuel guage pegged past empty put 5 gallons of gas in the tank but guage still doesn't register I can hear fuel pump kicking on for 2 seconds but no pressure, no fuel at shader valve don't even smell gas getting good spark reset inertia switch would a faulty in tank fuel pump cause guage to suddenly stop working? haven't replaced green relay or checked filter yet

Ugh, I feel for you... I'd start at the tank and work your way forward. See if you're getting pressure from tank pump before filter. Do you have a pressure gauge? If you do have pressure, move on to the next task. Could just be a faulty regulator. Don't overthink it like me, and spend $500 in parts you don't need, when it could've been something simple. If no pressure at main pump, check for voltage before swapping it.

Crap, the more I think about it, there are so many things it could be... I still say start at pump, and work forward. Let me know what you find

sorry, it's an 87 xlt 57K yeah I was going to start at the back for some reason the fuel guage quit working I was hoping that was a known symptom for something wrong pump is clicking but might not be pumping gonna get under there and start checking stuff this weekend thanks I'll post any progress
May be something with the fuel tank wiring harness and the pump my not actually be powering up. I ended up cutting out a hole over the tank after having so much trouble with the harness.
