f150 Fuel Enjected 302. Two days ago put gas in drove about 1 mile, and it stoped as if was out of gas. Ok I started at tank and replaced filters up to moter. Have taken lines off and fuel to this point has good glow. If i choke can get it to start. but if try to trottle up will gasp and die. Truck is 87 duel tanks, and is now in my mother and lows drive way and if no answer soon will have to go to new town. Help , Thanks Robert
Did you try the fuel pump? I am not sure how you are chocking an EFI engine? Either that or bad tank selector valve. Sounds like you got a good dose of bad gas or your fuel pump went south. Someone will advise but didn't '87's have in tank pumps and a high pressure pump? According to my Chilton's manual they do.
fuel pump works, it is on the frame, have started at tank and replaced with all new parts, up to motor. hold hands over intack and will choke or seems to. Should there be back pressure on fuel line all the way to the filter on chassis.
There should be pressure all the way back to the high pressure fuel pump on the frame rail, even when the key is shut off.
Check the fuel pressure at the Shrader valve on the rail with a guage. A proper fuel injection rated fuel pressure guage is best, but even using a tire pressure guage is better than just replacing parts in the hopes of eventually fixing the poblem. Cycle the key on to off to on to off. The pressure should be around 39 PSI. It should hold within 5 PSI of that for 30 seconds. If it is too low, or bleeds down quickly, the most likely culprit is the fuel pressure regulator.
l came across a problem in a late 80,s streight 6 , 5.9 leiter .
Dump fuel in the intake and it would fire up but would not run. The pressure in the fuel rail was pretty good, up arround 28 lbs. This truck belonged to a buddy of mine. l traced the problem down to a connector on the left under the hood by the left fender.lt had 4 or 5 wires in it. After that l gave up on it for the day. The next day my buddy got a school trained fellow to take a look at it. He went right to that connector and pulled it apart and did some jumping in there with a wire and the engine came right to life. My buddy put on a new connector and never had anymore trouble with it
have replaced the sensors the eng. acts like it is not getting fuel, is there some place i can go to that will give me a picture if fuel sys. and how it works, for my efi would like to trace from tank to injector with a picture and what the parts are. 87 f150 302

ok so you got 40psi which sounds good, did it hold within 5psi of that for 30 seconds? because if it didnt your fuel regulator is bad and could be causing your problem.
i would also check your Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) with a multimeter and also your MAP sensor. you could also buy a code reading for $40 and download any codes that the computer has stored in its memory about whats wrong. you could also buy a haynes or chilton manual at any auto parts store and it will tell you exactly how to check every sensor your engine has on it.
