Original owner, and I always run the tanks dry before switching over. Anyway, filled my tanks and switched to the front tank (had run dry) to force any air out, and no fuel. Switching to the rear tank all is well.
I'm guessing my in tank pump finally died. Looking in the archives I can check for fuel pressure using a basic air pressure/vacuum guage?? did I read that correct? I also looked in the archives for any "do this first, then this, then this" type procedure until diagnosed, but didn't see one.
Finally, assuming that I do fault diagnose to the in tank pump, would you recommend I siphon the gas out first?
I presume this is an EFI engine in which case the basic air pressure/vacuum guage won't handle it. You need a fuel pressure guage that hooks to the fuel rail. I don't remember the pressure offhand but should be around 30 psi. If you constantly run the tanks dry I would think you could be sending trash to the fuel filter. You should be able to hear the pump run when you turn the key on. Is only one tank acting up or both?
Yep, anything under about 1/4 tank and they will overheat and you kill them in a hurry. Since there are screens on the pick up and it is at the bottom of the tank I don't think running the tank "dry" will cause any problems with crap in the filter. As said above the easiest way to check the pump is to listen for it when you turn the key on.

What can I tell you guys? From the looks of things "killing them in a hurry" equates to 12 years and 166K miles.
