Power saver

When I shut off my 2013 F150 the radio used to stay on for roughly 10 minutes. Now I get a message it is saving power. Any thoughts?

My first thought is your battery is running low, nearing replacement.
Or you haven't allowed the 8hrs of completely off time for management system to check/manage charging.

there are others here that are more knowledgeable

Here's a fun test. Leave a charger/maintainer on the battery overnight, then next day go see how it behaves.
Or just skip a step and go get your battery tested.

After you've verified the battery is good or replaced, disconnect the BMS pickup ring on the battery negative cable close to the battery. That message will never appear again ever. I've been running mine for 8 years now with it disconnected due to the buggy BMS software.

It allows the alternator to charge all the time like they always have in the past. I got tired of my battery going dead due to a partially charged status. No problems since.

I'm thinking it's a battery going bad.

I had a slightly different problem. I would get a message for the fist start of the day something like low battery, start or turn key off. Turns out I seem to put the key in and turn to ON, adjust my fingers and then to START. That is when the message came up. The rest of the day no messages came up. Only first start of the day.

Original factory battery had the window that would show green, black or red for the state of charge. When new it was always green. When the issue showed up, it was always black even after a few tries of 6 hours on the charger. Figured the battery was going bad. Took the truck to Ford and they tested it and said it was fine. Couldn't answer why the window stayed black. Took the battery to my parts store that has a cabinet tester. They said it was fine. Bought a new lead acid battery (gotta love having a warranty, not) and the issue went away.

Then the new battery turns out had a leak at one of the terminals. I thought it was just coming out the fill caps. I had to replace the end on the positive cable due to corrosion. Thanks Dorman for making the clamp on end! Bought a AGM battery and all has been well since!

Hope this helps,
Tom
