As we approach MY23 and lots of people with MY22 trucks ordered and not yet scheduled, I was wondering if those with experience during the last change over could elaborate on what happened?
With various options disappearing from the build site, it seems the change over may have already started.
At some point I imagine new orders for MY22 will close. About how long is the break before MY23 order banks open? About how long is the production break between model years? Did many on this forum get told their MY21 order wasn't going to happen? Did any of those canceled orders get any kind of priority or other compensation for having to go to the next year model? Did the order just shift over to the new model or was it just, "sorry put in a new order if you want."
First off there are like 20 threads on this exact topic if you do some searchings.
Second, there have been a few people on here who are "in the know" more than the average joe that say MY22 production will likely go into the fall with MY23 ordering not opening up until late summer.
If you have a certain MY on order and it doesnt get built your order priority goes to 99 and that should trigger your dealer to call you and have you either cancel or re-order as the next MY.
As far as any incentives going forward, thats on Ford. I believe it was MY2020 orders that didnt get built got like a 3k cash offer to roll into a 2021. The 3k was basically the difference in MSRP from 20 to 21. Will Ford do that again? Thats anybodies guess. My personal guess is no. If that happens and I am in that boat, I will not be re-ordering...personally speaking.
I doubt the change over is going on now. It looks more like they just keep trying to take orders but have deleted options that they absolutely know that they will not be able to add. When the change over happens it will be announced that they will balance out the 22MY, then shut down and changeover any necessary lines, then begin production of the 23MY.
I imagine they are cutting the options to limit what people can order so they can fulfill all the deck out 22's. They don't want anybody cancelling an order because they don't want the 23*....

This is just an idea.
This is what I believe. And they should. If you reasonably cannot fill the outstanding Super Duty orders in a reasonable time frame, then peel it back and balance out what you have on the books. GM and RAM have done similar constraints over the past year. Insert Die Hard quote for Ford: "Welcome to the party, pal"
