I'm getting a new exhaust system. I'm thinking about having the shop weld in a bung for an O2 sensor. I have read that there are simple programs available that can read the O2 sensor output and show the air/fuel ratio. Any thoughts?

I have an Innovate AFR gauge and it works great. They will cause you to take your carb apart a lot looking for that perfect tune. They will help you clean up a too rich or too lean condition quicker than reading plugs. If you have dual exhaust, put a bung in both sides that way you can find out which bank is leanest and tune off of that.
Fair warning you will end up with a box full of extra jets, power valves, fuel restrictors, and air bleeds.
That looks like exactly what I need. Thanks for the good info Crop.
I am in the middle of a swap to propane. I don't completely understand propane tuning yet but I know there are far fewer variables than with a gasoline/carb system.
I've never had a propane vehicle, but there were a lot of farmers running propane back in the 70's and 80's when gas was expensive and hard to get sometimes. I know it burns clean and hot and usually requires hardened exhaust seats and good valves. In those days propane was nearly free about 20 cents a gallon, nowadays around here it is around $3.25 a gallon. Let us know how it works out.
Definitely have the bungs installed close to the engine/collectors. If you don’t use them initially, put plugs in them to cap being sure to use neverseize. This way your covered and it’s easier now than later welding the bungs on the bench.
