Hey folks, first of all I'm no mechanic, but my gas mileage is terrible. My 2013 3.5 eco, with 38,000 original miles is running in the 10 mpg range. There is no check engine, or anything else that shows there is anything wrong. I have even had it checked for free wheeling issues. No one has found anything, and the truck runs fine. Like I said 38,000 original miles and running in the 10 mpg range, but mostly stop and go around town, and somewhat hilly conditions as I live in East Tennessee. Is this normal? Mas, cleaned, and new air filter last weekend. Any advice would help, especially since gas is close to 5$ gallon. Thanks.
You have a instantanious gas mileage digital gauge on the dash... You should be able to see 16-18 MPG when cruzeing on level ground at 60 mph... Then you can see it go to 6 mpg when you accelerate, and 6 mpg when climbing a hill........... If you spend a LOT of time stomping on the pedal and climbing hills, you could easily be at 10 mpg....... and winter driving will also drop you 1-2 MPG.
Have you had it since new ? Is this DIFFERENT than last year ?

When I bought it had 25,000 and some change, and as far as the tires they are BF Goodwrench to something but the same size as original just more meat.

Thanks for your input and you are probably right. Maybe now I can relax and just drive it without thinking about something being wrong. By the way I love my truck, but I had thought about trading until your post
I have the same 2013 3.5 ecoboost 85,000 miles ; around here in West PA same hilly terrain . Average is 11 MPG in the winter using 91 octane . Was 12 until I put A/T tires on it.
I have the 3.7. With all the stop lights here, I get between 10 and 12mpg. If I toss in some freeway driving, I might get 14. I still need to see what it does for like 100mi of freeway and no city streets.
I have the same year and engine, SCREW. Turn off 6th gear around town unless on open highway at over 70. Works good for me and I avg 15 to 17 around town.

^this. I live in a hilly area and often "downshift" to 5th or 4th by turning off gears 6 & 5. I've found that since we got the 2 flash updates for the leadframe the transmission wants to lug the engine. Often I find myself in 6th on a slight incline at 40 mph. That's too slow. My combined all-round driving averages 16-18 mpg.
Should be better than 10mpg. I own a 5.0L Supercab FX4 of this generation, in stop and go traffic, depending on my luck with lights and what have you my mileage usually ranges between 14mpg and 16mpg ''16 mpg is being very thoughtful about mileage and coasting as much as possible''. Highway mileage is around 20ish mpg at 70mph but it starts to drop sharply if I go any faster than that, at 80mph my mileage averages between 16 and 18 depending on if there's a headwind or not. Should also be noted I have BFG KO2's ''factory size'' as well on my truck. At 10mpg average I would think its either something wrong that hasn't been diagnosed yet, or you have an aggressive driving style that eats fuel.

Turbo charged engines drink more than naturally aspirated. Nature of the beast.
