All F-150s now have LED headlights. XL through 501A Lariat have reflector LED headlights, 502A Lariat and higher trim levels have projector LED headlights. All are bright white LED but the projector are active and move in the direction of a turn and I believe self level based on truck loading.
Very kind of you to say. However, what you thought should be true. It's unconscionable to me Ford does not put LED lights across the board; XL thru Platinum. I totally understand why you thought that. Truth be told, the halogen lights suck. There are plenty of fancy options to layer in the trim levels, to motivate buyers to spend more money. Safely items like lights should not be part of that equation; in my not so humble opinion. Nonetheless, thank you for your posts and taking the high road.

You got that right. Other things like blind spot monitoring should be standard too.

One of the reasons that low-trim trucks have fewer features, even if they are relatively inexpensive to "throw in" to the price of a truck is fleet customers. Fleets look at cost of repairs, and replacement LED headlamps, or Mirrors with BLIS systems, are many times more expensive than those without. Fleet trucks are constantly hitting deer, machinery etc and needing repairs that the customer wants to be able to do cheaply at any shop.
So it's not all marketing tricks to try and force us retail buyers into more expensive trims, although that plays a part as well.
