My temperature selector switch gets super tense after I move it past the middle toward the hot section the springs back to the middle when I let go, my cold air also stopped working about the time this happened anyone know how to fix?
Is this on the ‘89 F-250 in your user name? The temp door is controlled by a cable. My guess is something is inside the heater box preventing the door from moving.
EDIT: The temp blend door is behind the glove box Remove the glove box to watch the end of the cable.
Or the clamp that holds the cable to the control unit has broken. That happened to mine. I used an old style, wrap around cable holder like was used on tiller throttle cables many years ago to mount the cable back.
You can reach up under the glove compartment and feel/see where the cable hooks to the control door. If you can move the door rod back and forth, and the cable is hooked where it should be, then the problem is at the control panel.
When I bought my '91 the controls were binding also, but after removing the heater core assembly and reassembling it all is good. I think the cable assembly was kinked because it works perfectly now.

I just put a new heater core in so this seems most likely I’ll check on it first thing tmr morning, thank you so much for the help!
just fixed it you were right I clicked the cable into the wrong spot so it was binding, now I just have to figure out why it only blows through the defrost vents thank you so much again
