Has anyone here made the switch to silicone vacuum hoses?
Ive been looking online at vacuum hoses and for my vacuum advance there just isnt a selection of 3/16" vacuum hose outside of the Pico which is only good to 180* F. What I have found is there is a huge selection of 3/16" silicone vacuum hose.
My other question is pertaining to the use of silicone hoses for emission components as well. For example I know from what I have seen silicone vacuum hose is not suited for fluid use but couldnt find much about vapor use, such as 3/8" size for use in say the canister purge hose to maifold vacuum or the 3/8" size from the PCV to manifold vacuum.
I can get 3/8" size in emission hose as well as 5/8" size but I am partially tempted to just run all silicone if there wont be a problem using this hose. I know one upside is since I am removing all the OE vacuum circuits and replacing it I can get the silicone hoses in various colors similar to how Ford did with the colored vacuum tubing which I am not a fan of.
Just be sure it a hose for vacuum and not pressure. Vacuum can collapse them
I got some that was listed as vacuum hose but says its rated for 60 psi. I tried squeezing the hose and its quite stiff so I think I should be fine but I only bought the bare min I plan on hooking to my distributor vacuum advance and using my hand vacuum pump and pumping it up to 25" which is well over what my 302 should be making to see if it collapses.
The 3/8" hose I got for the PCV shouldnt collapse as its not pulling a vacuum just pulling fumes.
