Hey guys. My grandson and I bought a 1967 F100 last summer that was sitting for about 20 years. Got it from my best friend whose dad had bought it brand new in 1967. We got it running fairly well after doing the basic stuff but then we slowly started working on it. Exhaust headers and disc brakes conversion on front with new power booster and master cylinder. We did not start the truck for about 2 months and when we finished with the brakes and headers today, we tried to start it and it will not fire up. It will briefly fire when we pour gas in the carb. When we take the fuel line off the carburetor plenty of fuel come out so that doesn't seem to be the issue. The only thing different between now and then when it started a couple of months ago is the straight headers (haven't put the pipes and muffler on it yet) and the vacuum hose from the carb to the brake booster. Anyone have any idea what we should look at?
Thanks!
Does fuel squirt in the carburetor when you work the throttle linkage? Have you had the top off the carb? What engine and carb are we talking about? Im guessing 352fe since you said headers. Just off the top, since you are getting fuel, might just need to clean the carb.
The carb is brand new. Can't remember the brand. I'll get back with that info tomorrow. The motor is a 390fe put in about 30,000 miles ago. Fue does flow freely to the carb.
