Spent several days in Sacramento visiting friends from when I was stationed there and just got home last night. While wew were there we drove by a parking lot with many old trucks. Most of them were Chevies...but there were a few Fords.
The last few North South runs have been in Morro Bay which is about halfway between LA and SF...just about due West of Las Vegas as the crow flies. Earlier events were held in San Luis Obispo. The F100 Western Nationals is IMO a better event and is hosted by Pickups Limited of SoCAL, Orange County Chapter.
My wife and I drove down the coast highway 1, I think, when we were out on business once. The amount of older vehicles was dumbfounding. So I just put attending one of the ford truck events out there in my bucket list. How do they compare to the Grand or Super Nationals? Sorry for the Indy.
The North South Run is a small but nice show. It originated when the North & South wanted a meet between the two groups. The first events were held at the Holiday Inn and Mooney's Grove in Visalia CA. A central location. I was the president of the Northern California F-100 Elites from 79 to 80. In 80 I believe the run moved to Santa Maria and from there further up the coast, last time I went it was in Morro Bay and a lot smaller than when I was actively involved, but it was a nice weekend with quite a few other things to do around Morro Bay. I would think a nice relaxing weekend
June 17 & 18 is the LA Roadster show at Pomona with the F100 Western Nationals the next weekend. If you have a week to spare, then you will not have a better opportunity to view as many pristine hot rods and trucks as you will at these two events. Not to mention it's all under the California sun not too far from the beach. There are runs scheduled the day before (June 24th) the F100 Western Nationals that have stops at many SoCal automotive venues including John Force's Race Station, CPP, and other vendor sites...each year is different, so you'll have to check the website. The F100 Western Nationals is all outside on the lawn under the shade trees. Cabins and camp sites are available at the show site.
