I know the truck/auto market is crazy right now. Dealerships marking up MSRP 5-10K+. I don’t know about everywhere else, but here in Utah, camper and 5th wheels are a dime a dozen. The local classifieds is full of units for sale. As I’m looking for a bunkhouse 5er, there are several I’m interested in, some private party, some dealerships. I’m looking at used rigs. Checking NADA for values. Ide say 90% of the units I’ve looked at are priced WELL over NADA values. If a unit gets listed for what it books at, it’s gone within hours.
An example:
Crappy part is, they are selling at these prices! If someone is not paying cash, how are banks loaning money for something that is inflated beyond its actual value? I’ve waited a long time to upgrade our 1990 Terry, and now I’m afraid I won’t be able to get something. Rant is over. What are you guys seeking in you’re areas?
I've noticed new 5th wheels are priced 12-15K more than they were before covid. Same with used. Great time to get out of one if you're not planning to replace it with another.
I don't know about the used market, but we were able to get 22% below msrp on our new one last August. It took some haggling, but nothing too crazy. Good luck!

When I bought mine new 8 years ago, I was able to get about 40% below MSRP. That was a 41 foot 3 axle Raptor.
But inflation is not what the talking heads want to mention.
About three months into Covid I looked at a toy hauler (triple axle, fifth wheel) that listed for $140K, marked down to $99K. I suspect I could have negotiated down a bit from that. Now, that same model is close to $200k.
I'm going to be sticking with my current bumper pull toy hauler for a while.
We signed the papers for ours on 2/20/20. It was a "new" 2018 that was hailed out and they repaired everything. We still received the factory 2 year warranty. Got it for 33% off sticker. Right now clean trade is for 20% under sticker. If I could talk the wife into selling it and waiting 2 years to buy new, I would do it in a heartbeat. However, I'd get tired of staying in motels and cabins....
The market is insane here. We have been looking for a 5ver to replace our last travel trailer. What was a 50k Forest River 5ver is now 70k and the quality of the build is by far the worst I have ever seen.
One of the last trailers we looked at had moulding that had fallen off and was on the floor cabinets that didn’t line up, gaps in the ceiling panel, moulding hanging from the ceiling. If the fit and finish is that bad I can only imagine what you can’t see. Absolutely awful.
I am dumbfounded that they are selling those units and getting that kind of money for them. But they seem to be.
We have backed off on our search. If we find a good unit at a fair price we will buy it but we are likely taking the year off of camping and seeing what next year brings. Hopefully the rising gas prices and the improving Covid outlook will bring things back to reality. Time will tell.
We have been camping for 30 years and as much as we hate to not be out there that’s probably what will happen this year.

I feel pretty good about our 2021 Rockwood build quality, was actually expecting worse. Had to hand tighten some of the water supply lines, but that’s about it. It seems to have been pretty well built, but I think the selling dealer also did a nice job with prepping the unit. You want to thoroughly inspect it, that’s for sure!
Thanks for all you’re replies. Patients is key I guess. I’ve been looking for a year now. I found a fantastic 2013 Rockwood 8286ws on my local classifieds. I ended up getting it for 3K under NADA value. Can’t wait to get out!
It seems as if the market is cooling a bit. Last year units were selling in a few days, this year I'm seeing the same trailers on RVTrader for weeks to I've a month. So seeing some price decreases
I've been watching a used 5th wheel toyhauler for a few weeks, pretty close to exactly what I want. But it's overpriced by about 30% and so far the guy won't budge.

Our 18’ was great. A couple on minor, and I mean very minor, things and that was it. We surely miss it.
I was in one Rockwood that looked good and the other was just slapped together at best.

Awesome, we are just trying to be patient as well. I learned a long time ago not to want something so bad that I had to have it. The right one at the right price will come along.

I’m seeing the same thing as well.
One thing all should do is to take a good look at your insurance policy and make sure that you policy limits are in line with these new inflated prices.
