Owners manual says they never run the same speed, and my new 2022 mirrors certainly "reflect" that. But you say yours is really slow.
There are some You Tubers that will show you how to get to the workings, and then wiping off any old grease and replacing with fresh lithium grease should do the job.
2017 f350. My driver mirror is super slow to fold in or out compared to the passenger now. Thoughts?
Same issue on my 2019 after I had the driver's side mirror replaced because another SD passed too close and smacked my mirror with his...he never stopped, just kept on heading down the two-lane road...made me mad. Anyway this new mirror folds in slower, but only a fraction of a second slower.
well thanks-
yes my driver mirror was replaced (with a ford replacement) after being snapped forward and breaking the lock stop on the fold. mirrors seemed to fold at the same time for a couple months, now the driver is noticeably slower in and out-
My 17 mirrors fold at about the same speed. I used to fold them in and out as I entered or exited my garage. New house garage does not fit truck so I don’t see them move as often any more.
On my 2022 the drivers side has always been a bit slower compared to the passenger mirror.
This is the same as mine. The driver side is about a second behind the passenger side. I haven’t tried to reset them though, and unless things change I will just leave them as is.
I replaced the folding arms in my driver's side mirror - it was smacked forward (no visible damage or sign of impact) - this caused it to not stop when extending out from being folded. I did the work myself and purchased the folding arm mechanisms from a person in Texas that repairs mirrors and sells such parts. The new arms work great and the mirrors fold/unfold very close to the same time. If one is much slower, the arms and locking mechanisms may have been smacked forward and damaged but not broken like mine were.
Ford will not warranty this in most cases. There are two pins that get bent causing the mirrors to not fold/unfold correctly anymore. The pins themselves can be straightened - .but are hard to remove/repair correctly. Disassembling the mirrors is doable (DIY) but not for the faint of heart. The mirrors themselves are very easy to remove from the door. (10 minutes, 3 bolts, 1 snapped on cover)
Ford is very proud of those mirrors ($1500 + $180 labor to replace)
There is a method to sync the mirrors. Might be worth trying that first. There are youtube videos about it. Search it up, and let us know how it goes. Good luck.
