Haven't seen it yet but have any of you wired a kill switch to your upfitter switches? I am thinking of making it where two of my switches must be in two different positions to start my truck. This way if a thief was to turn them all on, NO BUENO. If they turn them all off, NO BUENO. Yeah it takes two of them to do it but just thought this would be really easy to do and make it impossible to start the truck unless they know the combo. Thoughts??
The thumb print verification is here, to me this should be on the more expensive models. We've had thumb print employee checkin/out (in place of time card punch machines) now for at least 5 years.
Works great, nobody can punch another employee in or out too, so takes away the cheating/buddy system.
Should be in today's higher priced vehicles for engine on/start-ups; imo
Guys c'mon. If the truck is going to get stolen it will be either a professional theif or at gunpoint for the keys. The ol' hidden switch trick isnt gonna help with these trucks.
I've been wondering this same thing. I want to hook up a kill switch to an upfitter. But I've scoured the internet for months and haven't come up with anything. And I'm not too automotive electrically inclinded.

Yeah that's not true at all. I live in Miami and we have tons of Super Duties stolen every night. I'm hoping the new body style has fixed whatever makes the older ones so easy to steal, but I want to try to deter the theft if I can.

Poor logic. A thief can kick in your front house door so don't bother locking it.
Adding an additional layer of protection, particularly this idea the OP presented which is an inexpensive wiring mod, can't hurt.
May be poor logic. I'd love to have te last laugh when a theif is unsuccessful because if s hidden switch. but after dealing with PATS on an engine swap I have confidence in the factory antitheft system.
Not sure if the pats is updated but they added motion sensors inside the cab. learned this the hard way when I locked my dog in the truck, came back to find him in the drivers seat and alarm blaring.
Careful rigging the kill switch to the fuel pump, not sure how these new fuel systems will like running dry if you accidentally forgot to turn it on.
probably it would be more like a high power relay in the starter circuit Id think.2 relays have to be closed to get power to the starter. Or 2 low power in the starter solenoid circuit, probably wouldn't be hard but not sure what it would do to the computer or what code it might set.
Resurrecting this thread. I came up with a plan to do this before I even searched here.
My wife's new 4Runner was stolen from our home last week and I haven't been able to sleep since. We have no idea how it was stolen without sounding the car alarm. It was turn key ignition, not push button, locked, and both keys were inside the house.
I've got my F250 and the old F150 I inherited from my dad. Not nice, but it's sentimental. I'm putting kill switches in everything. For the F150, I rigged a hidden toggle switch to trigger the inertia fuel switch behind the passenger kick panel. For the F250, I have a normally open 4-pin relay that I am going to wire to an upfitter switch. Switch ON, the relay closes and energizes the fuel pump. Switch OFF, no juice. Normal drive mode will be with the switch ON. Park for the night, switch OFF, lock the truck. If someone one is trying to take it and is turning the ignition 5,000 times with no start, at least I have a good chance of hearing that and greeting them with an AR15.
Simple wiring plan is: Upfitter lead to pin 30. Ground to pin 85. Splice into fuel pump power across pins 86 & 87.
Wouldn't it be easier to just move to a town where truck theft (or other property or violent crimes) are not nearly as common?
No. No it wouldn’t. And up until the plandemic destroyed the economy, I DID live in a very safe neighborhood. Crime is everywhere now and they’re bleeding into historically good neighborhoods for a number of reasons.
