Radio Harness

I understand Ford used different radios plugs on our trucks. Is there a way to tell from our VIN which radio type we can use? I am looking at going to a stock radio with Single CD but there are 4 or 5 choices! I know aftermarket can perform better, but I like the big buttons, and they are fairly cheap at the local junkyard...

I doubt by the vin. If you go with a radio from the same year(s) the harness should be the same. You can look up wiring kits from crutchfield if in doubt that a different year might not fit. If they call out the same kit for yours as they do a newer model year, it’ll work.

Would like to go back to a stock radio as well. My son recently purchased a 2000 model superduty with the stock radio, mine is an 05 with an aftermarket. Any chance his 2000 would work in my 05?
