Adapter cables for 1998 Ford F150 radio (to upgrade radio)
Has anyone installed a newer model Factory radio/CD player in their 1998 Ford F150? I can find many newer radio/CDs on Ebay, but they have the wrong wiring plugs.
My truck has two rectangular plugs with 8 pins per plug (pins are in one row). I think this is a M100 plug?
Also, my radio reduces in height shortly behind the faceplate. In other words, it's a double-DIN unit, but it transitions to a single DIN, due to the metal rail in the dash.
Thank you.

How new are you looking for? A CAN radio will be a real pain and very expensive to put in a non CAN dash. However, a radio like the 01-4 should just be buying a to vehicle 98 harness and a to radio 01 harness and splicing them together. Although I don't think you will need an adapter for 98-03 radios.

The 97-98 F150 radio is different from the 99-03 radio, which is different from the 04-current radio. The 99-up radios are too tall and will interfere with the cross brace in the dash. You will need to find one from a 97 or 98 truck (the cd slot is in the middle not at the top like the 99-up radios), or go with an aftermarket radio (which is what I would recommend).
