So I have a 1997 f350 7.3 with the e4od. My old transmission was pretty well shot but I still drove it until it completely went out. The OD on the gear selector constantly flashed while it was running and driving. I just installed my new/remanned transmission and did the first startup and the OD is still flashing. It only ran for maybe 2 minutes because a line was leaking so I haven't driven it yet. Do you guys think it just needs time to reset or relearn itself or does rhe code need to be cleared? Or do you think there's still something wrong. I unhooked the batteries and am going to let the truck sit overnight as it's late and I'm going to fix the leaking line tomorrow
There is still something wrong. The light only flashes when it sees something wrong. It's still seeing whatever the problem is.
You will need the codes to know what's wrong. Forscan is a great way to read them. You can download it free at www.forscan.org. Their page shows how to select an adapter to plug into the OBDII port on the truck. I bought mine from Amazon for less than $30.
