I just checked out that website and it says my navigation subscription is active until 9/2024. I guess I get 3 years "free" with my new truck. If they don't figure a way to stop these constant false traffic alert notifications, I'm not renewing anything.

Nice. The Platinum, KR? And Limited have a different system than the Lariat on down. I believe my 2020 Lariat also came with a 3yr plan out of the gate. Is that “Progress”?
So let me get this straight…. One pays to have NAV as an option in our trucks, but that’s a pay service? So we pay up front and then have to pay some additional fee at some frequency? Seems odd to me. Please correct my understanding as I must be missing something.

Okay, I'll attempt to set you straight...
2022+ Lariat Super Duty comes with a free trial of "Connected Navigation", the cloud based navigation system, it is not an option, it is included with every new Lariat.
After 90 days, if you wish to keep it active, there is a yearly fee of $80.
KR also has the above nav, and KR ultimate, and Platinum and Limited have it too, but they also have a separate "Embedded Navigation" which is the navigation that is contained within the APIM that is not cloud based, and uses an internet update for its maps, and includes 5 years of traffic. Not sure about its renewal costs after that period, or charges that may be associated with map updates.
Thanks @Ltngdrvr that helps a lot. I ordered an XLT, so I won’t have that concern.
Thanjs!
Yup, your only concern would be if you chose the Nav option for the XLT 8" screen, then you would have to deal with paying for map update downloads.
But, on that system, even if you don't update it, it still continues to work, just may not show new road changes since the last update.

Best I can tell only the Platinum and Limited have the built in navigation. Don't think you can get it with the KR Ultimate.
