I have a 1978 F-150 Explorer with DSO 522555 I know the leading 52 is Dallas Zone. Is the 2555 the dealer code? If so, does anyone know which dealer that was? I'm just curious and don't want to spend $300 on a Marti Report. Lol
If the vehicle is built on a D.S.O (Domestic Special Order), F.S.O. (Foreign Special Order) or L.S.O. (Limited Production Option), the complete order (invoice) number will also be shown after the District Code Number.
My truck was bought off the lot new by my Grandpaw in Law in '78 who has since passed away. I know for a fact that he didn't order the truck. He went into town for something else and saw the truck and stopped to see about it and ended up buying it off the lot. It may have been ordered by someone then not purchased so it ended up on the lot...?
The door tags don't show anything out of the ordinary... but the truck is an Explorer Package C but with stripes delete, standard(small) bright side trim. Medium Copper exterior, Chamois/Ginger interior
without the usual Explorer design seats. 400/C6, A/C, Power steering and brakes., AM radio. I've had the truck almost 13 years and have never seen another truck like it in person or on the internet. I have to assume it's somewhat rare that someone would order an Explorer but delete everything that makes it an "Explorer"..... To me that would be like ordering a cheese burger cut the meat and the cheese. LOL
I haven't been on the site in quite a while and was wondering Is NumberDummy still with us.... I was looking forward to his possible input
