Hello,
I have a problem. I bought a 2002 ford explorer used. The keypad did not come with the code. Some say that there is a sticker but I am not able to find that. Please help.
Ford no longer puts a sticker in the vehicle with the code. If you know which dealer sold the vehicle new, you should contact them. They MAY have a record of it; not every dealer logs this information, though. Your only other option is to have the dealer hook your Explorer up to their computer and pull the code from the vehicle's memory. The cost for this service is anywhere from $0-$60, depending on the policy of the service department. Once you get the code, put it on a sticker and attach it to the inside of your glove box.
i was told by an ex-ford employe that in the rear of the vech. there is a little cubie hole and somewhere on/in there is the code, but i haven't found it yet. and the dealership is gonna getta for bout $50 to hook it up to the computer. i'm having the same problem. good luck
In the manual of my '98 it says the code is on the computer module (I have no idea where that computer is) and on a little card that came with the documents. I have the card.
The code is behind the left rear access panel. open the panel and use a flashlight to look back inside at the module. There will be a sticker on it the will be hard to read because of the angle but that is where the code hides. At the dealership I used to work at we did this for free. I don't see how a dealership would charge for something so simple, unless they are hard up for cash and not customers!
I don't know when was it that ford stopped putting the code in the pannel. This applies to my '98.
The panel is where your jack is sitting. It's in the back of the truck on the left. When you remove it you'll see the jack sitting towards the back of the truck. Right at the front of that panel you'll see a white box (I guess it's the computer). On it there is a sticker which has the code printed on it. It's a little hard to see because of the angel.

this quick hook-up cost $50 from my local ford dealer
hey guys. have you guys had problems with your keypad? I was trying to see if the keypad works. for some reason if the alarm is on, if i press the keypad it will sound off the alarm. but as soon as you press the unlock button on the keyless entry remote it will stop (of course) and if you lock it again and try using the keypad entry.. it will work without setting off the alarm. any suggestions on how to enter the numbers without setting off the alarm?
