1954 C600 Cabover
Here's the bed so far , I wanted something I could fit my car on, to take it to hill climbs and to look sorta in scale with the truck , I found some 54 f100 rear fenders , not to easy over here !
this is what i started with
bit of string to get it all lined up with the front
a couple of lengths of 2" box section and some angle
luckily I had a couple of sheets of steel a friend gave me, So started cutting and welding
made a running board
put some side lockers in to hide the air tank and on the other side for some storage
air tank mounted up
water jet cut some bigger FORD letters to make the tail gate
made some hinges out of stainless
ended up a bit tall so need to cut it down a bit i think
Put some strips in the folder and bumped them and welded them to the running boards to follow on from the cab steps and this is how it looks now , need to get on with the other side but i'm currently sorting out the loom , so i can get it running and turn it around
I am almost finished after 8 years, relying a lot on the kindness and skills of friends.
I could open a parts store with all the spares scattered around my barns. Must be beginning of senility.
Congtatulations on your progress !
Regards, Mark
I've notched the chassis a bit at the back to get it lower but think if I go lower again I will need to start moving the inner tubs up
and will make it a pain to load the car on the back , so gonna have to be happy with it for now, also going through wiring and tiding it up with proper connectors etc , plumbing in the air ride and trying to short all the leaks is a pain, will make some hard lines to go in the locker but the rest will be plastic lines in case I break stuff out on the road as its easier to fix,
got the exhaust box on , so I can make the mounts and stuff
Out side for the first time on a year or so ,
Plumbing in all the air stuff and chasing leaks....
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Here you go, just an old 240z with a bored out L30 , triple DCOE's , s15 gearbox, Subaru 4.44 Quaife LSD Diff etc..
it fought me all the way , wiring is not my favourite thing and trying to integrate a 1990 Bentley engine harness into the new truck loom was a challenge but it works and sounds pretty good for a turbo lump
