door seals

Hello,
Have a 60 ford panel. I put doors seals on from MACS and you could not shut the doors. I never took the doors off and they shut nice with out the seals. So I took them off and went in the trash. Bought the next set from DC and the same results. This time a friend took a die grinder and went around the hard rubber area on the seals till they shut. Looked like hell. So in my post before I ask about door seals again and DC was the answer. Bought them and put them with the same problems. Read in some old post that some people found hollow core door seal rubber. And had great results. Made a few calls and ask about these seals and they act like you fell off the planet. When you tell them you have had trouble with the seals they come back and say we have never had a complaint. Who is fooling who. I guess i could buy bulk rubber from metro and make them work, worked on my rear panel doors. Thanks people.

I have a 1958 F100. I bought the better-more expensive door seals from DC. They look and work perfectly.

I bought B7C-8120530-PR was 84,95. Did not know there was a better grade above this seal? After 3 times around the block you get winded. ha ha

Those are the ones I used and they worked great. Sorry about your problems.

Did you try adjusting the door after installing gaskets?

I had to move the door adjustment out slightly to allow for a non-crushed new seal. I expect adjusting the door will help!

Hopefully you read the DC instructions on installing the seals. It states that the doors should be removed from the cab and placed on a flat surface with the inside of the door up to properly install the seals. Then the doors reinstalled on the cab. If then you can't close the doors by adjusting you have other problems besides the seals.

I used Soft Seal. There is no problem closing the doors, but I do get a very small amount of air leak that I only hear when I’m going over 50 miles an hour.

Well people I have adjusted the doors for 3 hours and called it enough for one day. I taught the pope some new cuss words though. Passenger side sticks out a good 1/8 of a inch with yardstick flat accross the door, been that way for 1 1/2 years. Drivers side sticks out a little over a 1/4 of an inch with yard stick flat on the door. Hard part is help. Every gear head I knew has went to the roadside rest in heaven. Here are some pics and see what you think.

Hello All,
Had a bigger gap between the top of the fender and the top of the door. So I went thru the whole process of doing the door over. More enjoyment that way. Still had the same gap at the top of the fender and door. Looked in the book and seen you can shim up the front radiator support. Bingo , that was it. Thanks to every one for the support.
