Torque FIPW pid help

So i am assuming its torque pro but here's whats up, the last update to torque changed something with the FIPW pid. I monitor everything i can, religiously, i dont move my truck without being hooked to Torque. Truck was parked for a few months, batt cables off for probably a month and a half, all new positives and grounds installed, torque pro update released...
FIPW digital display wont read a constant reading now, briefly shows what i have come to know as a normal commanded FIPW, then displays something like 76000....
Forscan no longer connects to my OBD dongle so im stuck with torque pro, i can get a log if it helps.

If its a truck problem you wouldn't know it

I do the same thing when I drive my truck. Good to have a diagnostic program running/logging if a problem occurs, to catch it in the act and speed the investigation.

There's another recent thread where someone posted a TP screenshot showing FIPW with those high numbers - even if converted from microseconds to milliseconds, the PW was reporting incorrectly. Might be a bug in this last update.

If your truck is driving fine, I would not go hunting for anything, but I would recommend getting FORScan working with your rig, and move away from TP.

What OBDII dongle are you using? A cheap BAFX bluetooth (android) or wifi (iOS) dongle will normally work. I've been using the bluetooth version with FORScan Lite on my samsung S7 phone, and now on my Atoto headunit with good results. It will also connect with a laptop that has bluetooth.

I just received a wired USB OBDII dongle (OBDLink SX) to connect the headend to the OBDII port with faster connect speed, and to avoid having to turn bluetooth on every time on the headend. It's pretty inexpensive too ($40).

I am using one of the cheapo internet dongles, I did at least do my research on the different REAL elm software versions and bought one with the correct ELM software version. Just like Torque, Forscan had an update too, the BT in the dongle is having problems connecting to torque too, but i can at least plug and unplug the adpter a time, or 6... and get it to connect. I figured an OBDLink was probably on the list soon.

You said you got the wired, what are you using for a monitor?
I need to finalize a dedicated monitor, i am getting tired of the process that is "connecting" to my truck, between plugging in the adapter, connecting Torque, and my music app, plugging in my phone, switching my tuner, by the time im releasing the parking brake and stepping on the clutch i feel like i need a preflight check list and a co-pilot anymore!

I'm using Torque Pro and an OBDLink MX. I have noticed the same issue lately. I believe it's a software glitch because I don't see anything like this in my Forscan log data.

I hear you there, Diesel4Lyfe. I'm using an ATOTO android based headend (radio). It runs the FORScan Lite app. This is the S8 premium model. If you go this route, I'd recommend the less expensive A6 Pro, though. I have both units in different rigs, and the A6 Pro has been more reliable. The S8 has required a factory reset to get the soft buttons working again. It's a 1st generation model though. They have a 2nd gen now.

I had a love/hate relationship with Torque Pro (TP) when I first dabbled in the OBD/PID world. TP would work great with custom PID's and being set up with the gauges the way I wanted them.

Then it would go crazy and display erroneous readings, stop working partially or completely. Uninstall and reinstall happened many times. This was on 3 different Android devices.

I dropped it and moved over to FORScan Lite (FSL). FSL is not very attractive to look at, but it works very well. There is a one time $5 charge for the mobile device version or free for the PC version.

FSL is superior to TP for troubleshooting and reading DTC's as well. If you decide to venture over to the FSL world, check out the links below. Particularly the last one called Q&A.

Sous, BWST, thank you very much.
BWST you sold me on that head unit, I was never sure if I could have a gauge display up, AND another screen for things like GPS, or music.

Sous, you hit the nail on the head, I love TP for 1 thing, the customizable display. When its working, NO complaints.
FS is definitely the superior app, i did pay the 5 bucks for the full android version, and did get a little time to play with it before i parked the truck. I am convinced now my BT Dongle is crappin out, something with its bluetooth connectivity, i knew i needed to buck up and get the OBDLink adapter soon, looks like the time is here.

And thank u for the links btw, now that I think about it, I really need to get FS working again, before the new cables were installed I had a GEM full of codes, that i wanted to recheck. And an injector contribution test i wanted to run since ive got about 1000 miles since i resealed them.

Note that the S8 Premium has the split screen feature, not the A6 pro. Unfortunately, not every app likes running in split screen. It's a feature of the customized android version running on the S8. Waze likes it, but FORScan Lite does not always start up in split screen mode. I ended up abandoning that feature, and just switch between full screen views of each app using the square soft key at the top of the screen.
