(almost) FINISHED MY F100 RESTORATION!

I’m 16, and I’ve been working with my grandad on his old truck for a few years now. It’s a 1976 F100 Custom 2WD Shortbed. It’s got the 300ci engine. Runs fine, and now looks great. I’ve got plans for electric power steering, power brakes, and an AC kit in the future but those cost money haha. Maybe far off a 429/460 swap, new manual trans and other things for a decent street ripper… but I won’t get ahead of myself. She’s a good car as is now and I love it. We did all the work ourselves.
I say almost done because the hood has a few little hail dents, and the drivers vent window doesn’t work great. We ordered one but it’s not gonna be here for a while. Anyway, here she is!

Congrats! The truck is beautiful, but even better are the memories you created with your grandfather!

GREAT Looking Truck!!! Well done young sir! Keep the 300, find another truck for the 429/460, drive that and enjoy every memory you have with it. If anything, add an Offy intake and a Holley 390 cfm carb, that 300 is a great engine and will outlast you possibly! Maybe some rims and tires... but as she sits.. awesome!

I am wIth pickupmanx keep that truck just the way it is, maybe a set of hub caps, and get another truck to build for the ripper.

BTW nice looking truck you don't find many in stock looking shape like that and I think the older stock trucks get more looks driving down the road and at shows.
I know my 81 flare side dose.

Absolutely beautiful. X3 on keeping it "as is". Get another truck to build your street machine.
In the future you'll look back with fond memories of you and your grandpa working on it together.
Well done!

Yes! A terrific job by you and your grandfather. All the responses above are right on the money. I will add, whatever lift throws at you (school, career, marriage, kiddos) hang on to that truck !!! How many times have we all heard someone bummed out about selling their first vehicle.

Listen to them! I’m that guy. Me and grandpa did a lot of work on the 79 he gave me when I was 15. That was back in 93. I loved that truck but grandpa even more. Kept it through marriage and after the 2nd kid we needed something bigger. Sold it in 2000 for $2500. It took me almost 20 years to get another kinda close but man I wish I had that ol truck back. If times get tough and there’s a good chance they will fight through and keep the teuck! You’ll sure be happy you did.

Looks nice, I love short boxes.

i wouldn't give up on making it a hot rod some day. why not. the main thing is just don't let it slip out of your hands you'll always regret it.
