Excuse me if this has been taken up before but I couldn't find anything with the search. Has anyone converted their original 3 speed to a late model 5 speed behind their Flathead V8? Seems I heard this had been done years ago but I wasn't in the position to do it at the time. Now I can't seem to find anything just automatics. Would like a 5 speed that comes out through the floor like original if possible. Thanks
I found a thread or two, but the links to the important stuff were gone.
Short version: The T5 from a Chevy S10 or GMC S15 works as the shifter pops up in the right place.
T5s can be fiddled with to swap the tail housing and move the shifter around, so you can use a Mustang T5 with an S10 tailshaft housing and shifter.

If you search "T5 to flathead" you will find tons more.
Thank you, i did a quick glance around and will look more when I have some more time. I didn't see anything about transmission mounting. Do you know anything about that?
I did this conversion on my ‘53 using Modern Driveline (MDL) components and a new T5 from them. If you’re putting this in your ‘55 F100 I’ll post photos and note some pitfalls that may save you some trouble.

Thank you. It is for my 51. My 55 has the 3 spd with the BW OD so its good.
My '52 M1 had a 1987 Chevy S10 5spd in it when I bought it. I have since removed it as I'm swapping in a SBF and 4R70W. I don't have many pics of the interior, but here's one that shows where the shifter was located. I have some pics of how the trans was mounted, but nothing exotic...homemade crossmember.

Do you still have the parts? Were you thinking about selling them?
I just did this to my 51. Had a 4 speed and changed it to a T-5 Trans. Used a Cornhusker bellhousing, took some modifying to get it to work but worked great. Used the stock 11inch flywheel and pressure plate with an 11inch clutch plate from a Astro van. Put an after market bolt in cross member
