My 99 7.3 is pretty much stock other than a turbo back exhaust, cold air and a lift. Its my first diesel and I was wondering if I could get some recommendations on a simple digital monitor? Im hoping I can get something that shows everything I need instead of pillar gauges. Thanks in advance!
If you're runnig a stock truck and don't d oheavy hauling then the stock gauges will be fine. If you're putting a tuner on it or you haul heavy stuff all the time you'll want a Pyro, Trans Temp and Boost gauge.
tuners that connect to the old port often have gauge functions with many options, they use the OEM sensors. not sure what read on the 99 but my 06 has plenty of info available. u don't have to use the tune function. i even use mine as a screen for my back up camera
If u have an obdii port, Forscan is the way I would go with a dedicated tablet or phone. Then you would have it for troubleshootin. Will monitor everything except FP, You will need a seperate gauge for that. I use the wifi reader.
I’ve been happy with the Edge CTS2 tuner, but they have a straight monitor that’s a bit cheaper. I purchased their gauge pod which makes the install really clean, almost factory. Additional add ons like EGT, and fuel pressure get a little pricey. I do like having everything in one touch screen.
