Going round and round with my dealer right now because when pulling my 5500lb toy hauler, I get an average of 8.6 mpg. When pulling up a 6% 5 mile incline, I top out at 56 mph. I did not spend 40K+ to get 8.6@56mph. They have flashed the computer once, and it's going back again tomorrow. 2004 6.0 PSD 4X4 Crew Cab 6-1/2' bed. Never owned anything but Ford, but going to look at new Cummins this weekend.
King Ranch, I know I need new tires, I've still got the stock rubber one it, I just haven't decided what to get. I've always liked Buckshots for the woods, but I do most of my hunting 125 miles from home, and we've had trouble with tread seperation on the Interstate when it's hot, which happens a lot down here. Not to mention the roar and the vibration.
My F-350 srw, lwb,8' bed w/cover. With now having 6707 miles on the truck, I'm avg. 16.8 mpg. Cause at my second fill -up it was at 14.6 mpg. So each time it's getting better. I did no towing for the first 5000 miles. I took my 27' Searay boat up to Lake George, NY. round trip was 1458 miles. Where it got 15.1 mpg. I'm very happy!~
Yeah, I've got the BFG's. They ride fine on the road, but suck in the dirt, and what's worse is that they are totally useless in the mud. The only saving grace is that I've been so busy buliding a new house and clearing and developing a small ranch/farm that I haven't had time to hunt much. Another drawback to changing from Chevy to Ford is that I had 2 spare sets of rims for my chevys with woods tires mounted, one set real aggressive, one set for drier places. I'd just swap them as the weather and hunting areas changed. Since I have a compressor, impact wrench, etc, it only takes about 10 minutes to swap out. Now I have to acquire 8 lug rims and start all over.
First, don't believe your overhead computer for mileage. I've found mine to be no closer than 1.5-2 mpg off (on the optimistic side) of my real mileage so far.
I'm disappointed in the mileage so far from my 6.0, especially compared to my 01 dmax. 12-13 around town seems the norm for me and for lots of folks, reading other threads about this. I've not done an unloaded interstate run but will soon. I don't expect it to be very good, though. I've gotten 8.9 to 11.5 towing my 5000 pound trailer on the interstate. I like the 11.5 but the 8.9 was the return trip on mostly flat ground and I was very unhappy with that.
yeah I got rid of the stock tires the first time I went up to the camp and had to put it in 4x4 to get off wet grass. Luckly my cousin bought them of of me I only put 1000 miles on them.
Jeb my computer is within.5 to1 mile of my calculations. If that is all your getting for mileage then I would have it looked at.I get around 15 to 16 around town and atleast 18 on the highway.
Somebody suggested using a cetane booster fuel additive since we're into our winter blend fuel now. I did that on this last tank and got almost 16mpg of some mostly stop and go driving on gravel roads chasing ringnecks around. I was pretty happy with that. I'll keep adding it for now. The OH, for the first time, was off on the low side as it said 15.0 when I filled.
After the fill last night, the OH said in the 19's by the time I got home on the 30 miles of twisty, hilly blacktop road. I doubt it's right but that'd sure put a smile on my face. Heading off on a long unloaded road trip with it next week so I'm real interested at it's mileage there.
