Good morning. i have a 2009 f350 5.4. it has some very odd electrical issues and i am wondering if this all leads back to the BCM. The most persistent is that the instrument cluster lights do not shut off ever, then when driving the gauges will drop out, the blinkers do not indicate and it cannot see that the doors are closed. Now it simply will not start up. it turns over very strong but does not fire up. Let me know if anyone has ideas. the local dealer would love to have the truck for a week and rack up a 2k bill for me so i need some suggestions as to how to determine if this is a whole bunch of separate issues or a bcm issue. If so does that need programming or is it a stock replacement? thank you for any time and consideration.
As much as you dread the idea of having the dealership look at, diagnose and possibly repair your concern, it doesn't sound like you have much of a choice by what you describe is happening with your truck. If diagnosis does in fact determine the BCM faulty, replacement would require programming with IDS. But first and foremost, diagnosis would be the first step. With multiple symptoms like you describe, it is unlikely to be as simple as you would like it to be unfortunately. A faulty instrument cluster could definitely cause your concern as well, so with that said, your best course of action is to get it to the dealership with a competent electrical technician to diagnose. Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted.
