Alrighty fellas....trans fluid delivered, wix trans filter on workbench, inline wix trans filter dug outta filter box...waiting on few adaptors so that i can start the trans flush....anywho, question is...installing the "kit"(in which I'll take pics and how-to(for what it's worth) as to how I went about it), ..do i need access to the VB or is the kit accessible from outside the trans/amongst any 1 of them trans line....(sonnax/TransGo kit SOMEWHERE buried in parts box lol...its why the question)
I read another thread in regards to, when flushing...if fluid pumps out of return side "opening"(since line will be disconnected), is that a bad sign of a failed solenoid/bypass valve? If so,..whats the procedure of fixing that issue
Thanks y'all👍

Not sure what “kit” you are describing. Maybe the Transgo Tugger shift kit? I suspect a VB shift kit will need to have the VB dropped to do the work.
I think maybe the bypass valve you’re talking about is the cooler bypass valve. It’s external to the trans. If needed you can repair it with a rebuild kit. The bypass valve is a check valve which will only open if fluid pressure gets high in the cooler circuit (blocked cooler, pinched line). It provides the fluid a route to bypass the blockage so the trans still gets lube which is supplied through the cooler return side.
You are going to be removing the valve body for the bulk of the Sonnax/Tugger kits. The Tugger kit has a mod to the pump that isn't really required.... but in order for that, the trans has to come out.
Ya fellas..i think I got a plug n play kit. Not wanting to pull any tranny out, yet..lol
...been busy with home but gathered everything for flush and will dig out the kit tonight and post instructions
yo bern...i will soon bud. Last few days set the trans aside til this morning(redding the master up for travel nurse)...
Got all my oil, filters, adaptors and "marked" bucket for a "clean" extraction..last attempt(4yrs ago) was an epic bloody driveway bath...similar to how @HKusp enjoyed lol
Before I get started....the obvious format of flushing is to, drain, replace filter, bolt pan back up, top off fluid, remove return line then start flushing......
anybody oppose the idea of...drain, top off fluid, run motor and go thru gears, then drain again, remove pan and filter, install new filter and bolt pan up, remove return line then flush?
Reason being is, if doing the 2nd way, it's only contaminating the NEW filter with about 4qts of old fluid vs 7-8 qts doing it the "original" way
...thought...?
That was a mess!!! I never could get a good seal on those tranny lines. Tried many different clamps, always gave me trouble. Now I let the guys who get paid to do that crap do it.
@HKusp. Hey stud, after reading jefft thread and a member checked in a year later with a "union" to attach to the return line bc of the vinyl tubing not securing well even with clamps, I gave it a stab...man, it worked flawless!! Like you, I had a crime scene at last go around...
so, acquired the 5/8-18(f) x 3/8 barb to attach to libe and a 5/8-18(m)x3/8 barb to thread into tranny
...now, attached to trans with tubing and let the fluid flow....only time fluid exited the trans from the return line port was when in R
@aawlberninf350. Yo bern...Sonnax bypass cooler kit dude...decided on holding off for now until I'm in CA(this coming wknd). Doin IT, diff fluid and brakes, down at my bro's shop
