My 7.3 has 360k miles on it, and the second set of injectors are shot. I used full force diesel for these 140k miles ago.
Looking for inputs on other places that do reman injectors. Bitterroot, jelibuilt, unlimited diesel, etc. They need to be stage 1s. Im still running a dptuner chip. That may need replaced.
I'll second Sous's recommendation and raise you a PHP Hydra. I have no experience w/ the DP Tuner But the little I've gleaned here gives the impression that support is dwindling and options are a little limited. The Hydra brings a lot of options to the table and Bitteroots lifetime updates package is looking pretty tempting.
140k miles on them. Truck will hardly start when below 40. Sticky injectors, etc. They are wore out. I need to check the fuel pressure first, but Im pretty sure its still wore out injectors. Truck when it starts smokes terrible, and has a miss. As it warms up you can feel the miss(s) start going away.
And for the dptuner tunes, Ive never liked them. Truck has always smoked at idle in any tune. And the tow tune puts way way way to much fuel in before the turbo can spool up, egts go way up before any real power can be made.
Truck is a work truck, so dont want to spend a ton on it. But it needs to run when I want it to. Hydra would be great, but thats more money. Actually considered just pulling the dp tuner, and getting stock remans to put back in there. Thoughts?
I’m by no means an injector expert but since you might consider new tunes would replacing your tuner first then see how your injectors are working be the first step?
Glow plugs all test good. They are all working. Im still thinking injectors, as this issue has been getting worse every year for the last three years. Had a local diesel shop do a compression test and replace all the glow plugs. Everything tested okay there.
My stock injectors lasted around 210k miles. Same symptoms when they were shot. Took tons of cranking, lots of smoke, etc.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know how long the oil side is going to last on most remanufactured 7.3 injectors. A fresh grind on the poppet seat is the best way to renew the oil side, but these machines are expensive. The machine the OEM uses is $400,000!
If you are looking for the longest lasting injector I'd start with new.
The easiest injector for you would be stock, but if you are wanting the best of both worlds with the Hydra you might consider an AD with a 30% nozzle.
I'd recommend sending in your injectors if you knew their history and they were well taken care of (oil side longevity). Otherwise it's mostly up to what is more convenient for you. Bad oil sides will need to be replaced with good cores which will incur a charge.

whats the turn around time on getting mine rebuilt typically?
