2013 f150 5.0 v8. 3 weeks ago went to start the truck and just got a click from the starter. Tried jumping it off with no luck. Replaced the Starter and still nothing. Replaced battery at it started and worked fine til couple days ago went to start and did the same thing. On the meter got 12.2 volts at the battery and at the starter. When trying to start the volt meter falls to .02. Any info would be appreciated
Check your connections at the battery and at the starter as well as the ground cable for corrosion, or just being loose. Failing that you'll likely need to replace the cable assembly.
Look at all the battery and ground BIG connections.. See if anything is cracked or corroded... Maybe you can CLEAN, maybe you can REPAIR a connector... Not necessarily the entire harness.
"Voltage drops to zero".... I assume you are measuring at the CABLES ? Go directly to the battery LUGS and measure for 12 volt while cranking.. If the BATTERY reads ZERO, then the battery is dead.. If your measuring outside on the CABLES, then the cable is corroded or dirty
What I've found in my 40+ years of automotive repair is corrosion will work it's way down inside the cables and create too much resistance for proper current flow causing situations such as this.
Whether or not that's your issue is something no one can say without hands on.
Perform voltage drop tests (Google it) of each component (battery, cables, connections) to see where it's getting lost when the starter tries to engage.
