Bought a truck from a guy, said brakes had gone out. Noticed fluid empty, found a leak on rear drivers side. Pulled the drum as it was leaking from inside. Well, low and behold total carnage inside. Guessing from the fact that the pin for the park brake lever and everything was missing, that was the cause of catastrophic failure. Anyways, I cannot find ANYTHING about a backer replacement or part numbers for the anchor pin. Maybe someone smarter than me can help me out? Don’t really want to buy the stuff from a junk yard when it comes to safety features but will if I can’t source new parts…
Plenty of 10.25 used parts around, I would not have any qualms about installing the used bits needed. Post up here and in the 87-96 section on this forum, I am sure someone can help.
While in there, replace all your e-brake cables to the front also.
I ended up finding a guy here local that has a couple 10.25 axles. As luck would have it, the whole axle and everything is going to be cheaper than upgrading the brakes and I’ve got a buddy looking to put 8-lug axles under one of his projects and isn’t as penny pinching as I am. Worked out a deal to pay almost nothing in the end. Definitely plan on replacing the parking cables as well mostly due to the fact that the drivers side one got shredded inside the drum
