What is this ? "crankcase vent box with the latest non serviceable one to save your upper oil pan seal."
I saw this on a new post. The OP has a 2017. I have a 2012. Is this applicable to my year as well ?

Hmmm. I seem to remember a recall some time ago on my 2015 power stroke concerning the crankcase ventilation oil separator assembly. Is this what you are referring to?
Recall FSA17M04

Your 2012 has a non serviceable crankcase box so no need to worry.
I saw the same post and was curious as well. I tried an internet search but didn't come up with anything. I think it was on the thread titled, "Bought my first 6.7" or something like that.
Look at the CCV box above your driver's side valve cover, it's a black rectangular box behind the fuel filter. Take a look at the top center of the image below, it's the black box with 2 white stickers on it:
Take a look at what's on your truck, if you can see bolt heads on the top side of the CCV you have the style with a serviceable filter that is known to fail. No bolts means you are good to go.
Also check out the following YouTube video:
What do you mean by no bolts you are good to go?? Does it mean it doesn't need to be replaced?? I thought if it wasn't serviceable, the whole thing needed replacement sometime after 75,000 miles. Which is correct?

If your unit doesn't have bolts that means it's the non serviceable type and should be good for the life of the truck.
Here is a thread where we discussed this last year. Lots of up close photos to look at. And just to be clear there are now 3 different types of CCV boxes on the 6.7.
Not sure what's going on with my post. Right NOW is the 1st time I've been able to see any of the replies. When I would click on the thread, it went directly to my account page. But only on this thread ! WTF? Anyway, if you see I have re posted basically the same thread, you'll know why.
