We are just teasing for the most part. You can definitely afford to pay some labor that many of us can't, or won't. I would probably perform a do it yourself appendectomy if I thought I could buy a new camshaft with the money I saved.
You're smart enough to know what you can and can't do by yourself. I applaud you for that. Your throttle bracketry is very likely tied in to your AOD linkage. We don't have to tell you how much it cost to rebuild an AOD you burnt up because you screwed up the cable adjustment. I bet even a guy of your means would have to work pert near a whole day for 1500 bucks.
Let us know how it comes out. A lot of us are running Lokar cables.
