.Took me a while but here it is: Remanufactured, all new but the roller cam I think. Edelbrock carb and 020 Silvolite cast pistons. Please tell me its not the oil crisis low power version of the engine. How many HP and torques you reckon its making with his carb?
Thank you
Neither. The low output motors was a '70's thing but that is a mid '90s block so it's not one of those, The 300hp motors have GT40 heads but those look to be the regular truck heads so it's not that either. My guess is it was a truck motor that was rebuilt and dressed to go into an old car, and depending on the cam used it will make somewhere between 220-270hp.
Allright thank you! Its going into a 76 E-250 econoline btw.
So I could get 300hp out of it if I replace the heads and cam?
Is there a combination of those I could put in to get 300HP but lots of torque to quickly accelerate my van?
The vendor quoted that it nearly made 300HP but also said it would make possibly more using the Edelbrock carb and silvolite pistons but he also said that the cam was a stock cam made for torque that I need for a heavy van.
The stock '94 truck cam(if that's what it is) is half decent but it was designed for an EFI motor and leaves some potential on the table, with those heads this a 250hp motor. I think you would get what you want with GT40 heads and the Howards 220315-10.
Here are the parts. Heads are E7TE. Its still around 250 with those or more?
Im not doubting my vendor at all. Pretty happy with the product.
Just trying to learn about what I have. Im building a second van for my brother (74 Econoline) and im planning to also build a mustang fastback. Just want to bring as much experience as I can with me into the future projects.
He will tell me about the cam today I guess.
The F4TE cam is only a tad shy of the HO roller, and that one has been proven to make 300HP with better heads on a 302. Some of the specs can be made up using 1.7 rockers to bump the lift at the valves by .030
Finally got the CAM info from the vendor. Any idea now how much HP the engine will make if you take all parts into consideration?
Your run of the mill RV cam. I ran a cam with the same specs in a Ford 400 and it did well. You'll get a little bump with it over a stock Ford flat tappet factory cam.

Thank you so much for all the information!
What torque converter would you guys recommend for this? I want it sporty but very stable and durable.
Any advice on that?

Leave the converter alone. Going higher on stall speed will only worsen your mileage. Not enough duration to need more stall
