4r100...syn vs conv

Okay dudes...back in 1/2018 I flushed the trans. Its been about 50k miles on ur, and with not taking notes, I can not remember what I used...i wanna say the valvoline merch(blue bottle)...What would/could/if any. Happen if I use another brand, but is a mercV rating?

What would happen if you used another brand of MERCON V? The trans would work fine. That's all that will happen.

I have half a gallon of Maxlife(synthetic). I believe I used it in my grandfather's Buick. However, that stuff is 18.xx/gallon in which that's entertaining but, nowhere it says..Mercon V

I would not use that in a transmission that requires MERCON V. It's too thin.

Appreciate the info Mark. Found SYN Marc V but, store didn't have enough for a complete flush so, ordered online. Figured, no sense in drain/fill when only 5-6 more qts and a few extra minutes can accomplish a more thorough fluid change...plus, got a trans filter(longneck) too.
I'll have to look up threads now, to see what bolts need torquing and location of them
