Curious if the Ford console vault still allows the change/accessory tray to be utilized? I saw that an aftermarket model does but I can't find out for sure on the Ford model. I'd rather have one with a combination lock as opposed to a key.
I mounted a safe like this one vertically inside my console, Its a lot of work, had to cut the a corner
of the tray for it to fit. Its awesome to open with fingers... https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/cabe...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

The Ford OEM console vault does not. I had one with my build, but ended up pulling it out for the E and G half safe. R his one allows the drivers side to be secured, the passenger side to be open storage and the tray will still work on the passenger side.
My OEM combination safe has a twist-to-open **** on top which prevents the change tray from being used. I have seen other safes that were keyed that my possibly allow the use of the change tray. I found the interior organizer below will fit inside the safe, however. It's not the change organizer, but it's handy. I am able to keep a small jar in one of the squares for change.
Thanks everyone. Guess I need to just decide now what's more important, having a combination lock or change tray. Either way I need something to keep little hands out of there.
I guess we must have been thinking the same thing at the same time, as I posted just after you asking if anyone found a tray to work with the OEM style console safe. Had I seen that E&G style, I would have most definitely tried to acquire one of those instead as not having the change tray is rather annoying. Putting the change tray down in the bottom really isn't the solution I am looking for so I'll have to find some generic and rather shallow tray that will sit on top. The issue with the Console Safe is that the lock is right in the center, taking up valuable space based on the armrest lid design.

Ha ha I noticed your post. So is the console vault just too tall for the tray to fit in there? I'm still going back-and-forth on what to do.

If the combo lock was off center, the factory tray might have worked. As designed, the armrest lid has plastic on the underside that interferes with the lid closing with the tray on either side of the lock. If the underside of the armrest had more clearance it would all work. Also, the tray is just a bit too long to sit sideways. I think I'll look around for a tray that is just a bit shorter (I need to measure first) and let it sit sideways. A bit of rubber on the bottom side of the tray should keep it from rattling and/or sliding much. I just want a place to toss my hitch pin keys, Good Sams card, and other loose random stuff I don't just want sitting in the cup holders.
