I posted earlier about a service manual , I'm still not seeing it. Could somebody send me the direct link to it? I have a 2001 Ford f250 super duty 7.3L diesel truck. I'm having horrible vibration at 30 to 40 mph it's getting worse
Couple of questions:
1) Assuming vibration is coming from drivetrain, not engine, correct?
2) Coming from front or rear? If in front, do you feel it in the steering wheel?
3) Any noise associated?
4) Does the vibration go away after 30 to 40 mph?
The vibration is coming from the front and I can't tell if there's noise associated my truck is very loud anyway, I can feel it in the steering wheel I've already changed the ujoint twice on it. The vibration is getting worse at first it started at around 30-40mph now it's doing it going up little hills or letting off the gas to slow down. I'm just at my Witt's end here
Have you removed the lock out hubs and gave it a rip? Could be a sticky hub or the hub bearing is going. Last thing you'd want is a carrier bearing going out, but that would only be evident if you had the hubs locked and the front carrier is being spun by the axles. In 2wd its likely to be out at the hub. How about the rotors and brakes? the caliper can stick and hang up the rotor.
Usually vibrations when accelerating or decelerating are due to u-joints on the rear shaft or in the worst scenario the ring and pinion. This is all components in the rear of the truck. Your truck should not have any components spinning in the front unless you have your hubs locked and/or in 4wd.
Generally a vibration that is felt at a certain speed band, the first thing to do is get the tires balanced or rotated out. Especially if there isn't a noise associated. Ensure your front axle isn't spinning when driving (check that hubs are unlocked). Next would be rotors...if you're getting a lot of vibration when braking, those warped rotors can be bad enough to vibrate the front end even when not braking.
How old are the tires, when was the last rotate and more importantly, balance?

I have a 2wd and the vibration actually coming from the center . Basically I can feel it in my seat . Does anybody have the service manual for future problems as well ?
I know this is an older post, but I'd like anyone who needs it to know what I discovered on my rusty beast. I have a 2001 F350 with crew cab and long bed and for years I tried to figure out a vibration at 45 mph/1500 rpm. The main culprit ended being a terribly wallowed out carrier bearing. I ordered the driveshaft with carrier bearing already installed, and it came with new U joints as well. No more vibration.
